The first strictly American hardwood species. Hickory is the hardest, heaviest, and strongest American wood. Its natural color is white to a reddish brown with fine brown lines. It stains and finishes well.

Hickory is a very eye-catching hardwood, due to its dramatic grain. The heartwood of a slow growth Hickory tree has a rich brownish color tone that is boldly accented mixed with the lighter tones of the sapwood. Hickory plank flooring is beautifully unique and distinctive, and will give a very bold statement to any room. Hickory is a high density hardwood that is very resilient, even to centuries of wear. Due to its hardness and durability, Hickory is generally used to make axe, and sledgehammer handles, and has become an excellent choice for a strong, beautiful floor suitable for most any style home from contemporary, to rustic.
